Our Values
Our values are captured in six key words:
Kindness, Aspirational, Equality, Individuality, Collaborative and Trust. Please read below for more information on how we achieve our values.
Kindness:
We believe we should always act with kindness. We achieve this by:
- Being honest and supportive
- Praising and celebrating our unique qualities and achievements.
- Creating a positive culture where everyone feels valued.
Aspirational:
We believe that through encouragement and support we can achieve our potential, we always strive to be the best we can be. We achieve this by:
- Developing learning environments where trust builds confidence and provides a safety net to enable us to take measured risks.
- Enabling achievement through carefully considered levels of support, which gradually decreases to develop autonomy.
- Reflection of our learning and next steps.
- Celebrating and taking pride in our achievements.
- Building a ‘can do’ attitude which knows no limits!
Equality:
We believe in ensuring equal and inclusive opportunities. We achieve this by:
- Building inclusive learning opportunities with mainstream partners and within the community.
- Respecting each other’s differences and celebrating diversity.
- Being proud of who we are and encouraging self-expression.
- Building confidence, resilience and self-esteem through self-reflection, praising effort and knowing the value of ourcontributions.
Individuality:
We believe that we learn best through individualised learning which is based on our interests, builds on our strengths, develops our abilities and supports us to overcome our barriers to learning. We achieve this by:
- Creating positive, stimulating, considered learning environments.
- Planning and delivering teaching and learning opportunities which build intrinsic motivation and inspire curiosity.
- Appropriately challenging individuals to achieve the targets which have been tailored to them.
- Reflecting on and adapting our approaches to ensure we always provide supportive challenge.
Collaborative:
(Together) We believe that every individual should feel a valued member of their communities (Bardwell, family, wider community), and play active roles within them. We achieve this by:
- Maintaining open, honest and regular communication with families.
- Working in collaboration with students, families and professionals to set individualised outcomes which impact our livesin positive ways.
- Seeking meaningful opportunities to link with the wider community and recognising our value within society.
Trust:
We believe strong friendships and relationships are central to happiness. We achieve this by:
- Promoting open, honest and non-judgemental communication which ensures everyone has the chance to be heard.
- Understanding that trust creates meaningful relationships, which in turn creates a sense of belonging.
- Enable stimulating shared play and social experiences, which still value each person’s unique qualities.
