Uniform

At Bardwell School we do not have a school uniform for pupils or strict dress code for staff. We believe that all pupils and staff should wear clothes which suit their personal preferences, are comfortable, protect dignity and are suitable for the work they are carrying out.

Many of the neurodivergent individuals within our Bardwell School community have heightened awareness of sensory stimuli. Research studies suggest that being comfortable in what we are wearing affects our psychological state, promotes increased productivity, boosts confidence and supports us to have a positive mindset.

Bardwell School also promotes inclusivity.  Not having a uniform ensures individuals can wear clothes that promote their cultural and religious beliefs without restriction. Additionally, not having a uniform reduces financial burden on families and staff.

Some pupils and staff who prefer the routine of having a uniform, choose to purchase t-shirts, sweatshirts or fleeces with the Bardwell School logo on them. This is entirely optional but available to anyone who wishes to wear these.
